Our Sustainable Values

Sustainability

A powerful shift is happening in society right now and OceanZen is proud to be amongst it. The rise and growth of our brand is testament to the conscious women who choose to celebrate and support conscious, sustainable and ethical fashion.

Our dedication to sustainability is at the forefront of our ethos and the design and development of our swimwear.
To us, sustainability should never be a trend. It is our passion, and our purpose.

Our Mission

Every year around 640, 000 tonnes of‘ ghost fishing gear’ enter our ocean and become adrift. These can stay in the ocean for up to 600 years and are the silent killers of our marine life. Whales, seals, sharks, dolphins, turtles and so many more precious marine species are subject to suffocation and slow, painful deaths.

We believe in the cause for a cleaner ocean. It's an oasis of life and beauty that is under severe threat and needs our urgent attention. It is our mission, through our sustainable swimwear and wider community efforts, to raise awareness on the state of our oceans and lead the way to a more sustainable world.

Our Fabric

In 2014, Oceanzen pioneered the use of a revolutionary fabric that supports the removal of marine debris from our oceans. We continue to manufacture sustainable swimwear made of nylon waste such as recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets that have been recovered from our oceans and recycled. By regenerating waste, we’re not only making it new again but we’re saving a whole heap of precious, finite resources and energy whilst also reducing carbon emissions.

We are just as proud about the origins of our fabric as we are of its superior quality. Our fabric is soft and luxurious; but strong and durable, and holds its shape to last. Our styles are sold separately and are designed to mix and match to ensure the ultimate fit and feels for your taste and shape!

Our Ethics

Conscious consumerism is the core of everything we do at OceanZen, and we have a strong respect for the people we work with and the environment we work within. Our passion is conscious consumerism and we support the cause for a cleaner ocean.

Our manufacturer follows strict ethical business practices and is Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) certified which guarantees ethical compliance regarding labour, heath and safety, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours, fair trade remuneration and much more. It is so important to us that our manufacturer understands the importance of ethical and sustainable practices and processes and we are lucky to have the support of our production team across all stages of production.

One strict rule of thumb at OceanZen is that no plastic packaging will be used in the transportation of our garments, nor our branded packaging to our customers. We pack your orders in reusable cotton drawstring bags and our shipping satchels are made of 100% biodegradable and home compostable materials. We refuse to contribute to wasted fabric and repurpose any left over fabric into hair scrunchies.

OceanZen swimwear is OEKO – TEX certified meaning that all components of our products e.g thread, fabric, hardware etc have been tested and have no harmful substances to humans or the environment. Our swing tags that hang off your swimwear are also made of recyclable paper and our hygiene stickers are 100% compostable.

OceanZen's mission is to continue to be a voice for sustainability in the fashion industry. We are always striving to improve and better our practices and are passionate about continually building our brand through the most environmentally conscious and sustainable paths forward.
